Danish renewables developer European Energy A/S on Friday presented a 65-MW photovoltaic (PV) project in Lithuania that will become the largest solar farm in the Baltics if completed.
The facility is planned to be built in the municipality of Anyksciai where European Energy began the construction of a 50-MW wind park in 2021.
The solar project envisages the mounting of more than 140,000 PV modules on trackers in an area of more than 120 hectares. Its total output over a period of one year is estimated at about 90,000 MWh.
The Anyksciai solar power plant is seen to be finalised in the final quarter of this year.
To date, European Energy has invested over EUR 460 million (USD 496.3m) in renewables development in Lithuania and plans to spend a total of more than EUR 1.6 billion in local wind and solar for a combined capacity exceeding 1.6 GW.
The company also has solar projects in Jonava and Skuodas that should be completed by 2026. In addition, it has a EUR-250-million Power-to-X development in the country.
