The Crown Estate said Friday it has updated developers on its plans for the Celtic Sea floating wind tender round, informing them that it will set out next steps as the UK government concludes its review of spatial considerations related to the potential locations for wind farms.
The seabed landlord added that it will soon provide additional information on the programme and a date for the next developer webinar event.
The Crown Estate aims to enable the installation of 4 GW of floating wind in the Celtic Sea by 2035. It has been working to identify broad areas of search, planning to refine them into project development areas to be offered to developers via tender.
“This engagement has helped highlight that the Celtic Sea is subject to many competing demands and that there are a number of spatial considerations and policy drivers that the UK Government is currently working to resolve, supported by The Crown Estate,” it is explained in the Friday announcement.
“We look forward to bringing developers together as soon as we are able to update them on next steps,” said Gus Jaspert, managing director for marine at the Crown Estate.
In October, the Crown Estate published ‘Refined Areas of Search’, or smaller areas of seabed where projects could potentially be located.
