Spanish renewables developer-operator Grenergy Renovables SL (BME:GRE) has obtained consent and a construction permit for a 36.7-MW/43.37-MWp solar farm project in Spain’s region of Valencia.
The proposed plant, named Chambo, will be located in located in the municipality of Ayora where it will form part of the 172-MWp Ayora complex with three other solar farms.
Earlier this year, Grenergy signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) for the delivery of electricity from Ayora and other solar farms in development in Spain.
The cost of the Chambo installation is budgeted at EUR 22.4 million (USD 24.6m), according to the resolution to grant the permits published in the Valencian government’s gazette. The resolution also states that Grenergy plans to use over 115,600 bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on 1,377 trackers.
Since the solar farm’s nominal capacity will greater than the grid access capacity, which is 32.31 MW, Grenergy will be required to install a control system, according to the resolution.
