RWE AG (ETR:RWE) has secured contracts for difference (CfD) for 66 MW of solar projects in Poland, expanding its green portfolio in the country, the German energy group said on Friday.
The contracts, awarded by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office in the latest renewable energy auctions, are for small and medium photovoltaic projects. They have different delivery timelines, but construction will start on most of them in 2024. Many of schemes were developed by local company Alpha Solar, which RWE acquired last year.
According to Katja Wuenschel, chief executive of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, Poland is one of the company’s core growth markets and offers excellent locations for both wind and solar power.
“Our success in these tenders strengthens our position as a leading renewables company and allows us to secure part of our revenue stream long-term,” added Agnieszka Wojnarowska, head of development for Onshore Wind and Solar at RWE Renewables Poland.
RWE already has more than 32 MW of solar farms in operation in Poland, as well as more than 100 MW of PV projects under construction.
The company recently set out plans to invest EUR 55 billion (USD 59.3bn) net globally and grow its green portfolio to over 65 GW in the 2024-2030 period.
