Malaysian clean energy specialist Solarvest Holdings Bhd (KLSE:SLVEST) said on Friday that it has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Taiwan to boost its presence in the local market and pursue opportunities in diverse renewable energy sectors.
The establishment of the Taipei-based Solarvest (Taiwan) Corp Ltd (STCL) comes as the company prepares to go beyond solar project development it has been known for, and tackle other renewable energy sources and solutions, such as energy efficiency or low-carbon mobility. In Taiwan, these opportunities may include ventures into wind energy.
“As Solarvest advances ahead, we are transforming into a holistic clean energy developer, actively participating as an asset owner or co-developer in our overseas projects. In tandem with the Group’s 5-Year Strategic Roadmap, we are also exploring other clean energy sources, particularly in the development of wind energy projects alongside our focus on solar projects in Taiwan,” said executive director and Solarvest CEO Davis Chong Chun Shiong.
Solarvest further said that it already has a pipeline of projects in Taiwan, supported by 200 MWp of clean energy opportunities. Its ventures in the country include a collaboration on solar projects with local EPC firm Hsinjing Holding Co Ltd (TPEX:3713).
