Renewables generated record-breaking 60.3% of Spain’s electricity in November, according to the latest monthly estimates released by Spanish grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE).
Wind power alone accounted for 32.6% of the total electricity production in Spain. The country’s wind farms generated 7,036 GWh of electricity during November, increasing their output by 5.3% year-on-year.
Precipitation in November helped elevate the share of hydro to 16.5% and increase hydro power production by 171.2% compared to the same period a year ago.
The share of solar photovoltaic power was more modest, representing 9.1% of the total production in November compared to the 12.3% estimated the month earlier.
Overall, Spain’s renewables across all technologies produced 13,004 GWh in November, up by 29.1% year-on-year, according to REE’s early data as available on December 1.

Spain’s gross demand for electricity was estimated at 19,891 GWh in November, up by 3.1% year-on-year. Adjusted for the effects of working hours and temperatures, demand rose by 2.8%.
