Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) on Friday announced a conditional agreement for the delivery of hardware for the up to 1.2-GW Baltic Power project in Polish waters.
The agreement comes almost a year after the Danish manufacturer was selected as the preferred turbine supplier for the scheme set to create one of the first offshore wind farms in Poland. As previously announced, the complex will be equipped with 76 units of Vestas’ V236-15.0 MW machines.
Further announcements are due to be made regarding the turbine order if and when it becomes a firm and unconditional deal, Vestas said.
The Baltic Power wind farm will be located about 23 km (14.3 miles) from the coast at Choczewa and Leba. It is expected to generate enough power for more than 1.5 million households once it goes online in 2026.
The offshore project is a joint venture between Polish oil refiner PKN Orlen (WSE:PKN) and Canada’s Northland Power In (TSE:NPI).
