CrossWind, a joint venture of Dutch utility Eneco and British oil giant Shell Plc (LON:SHEL), has installed the last Siemens Gamesa turbine at the 759-MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind project in the Dutch part of the North Sea.
Final testing and commissioning works are underway, with some 11-MW turbines already generating electricity for the Dutch grid. The site is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year, CrossWind said in a statement on Friday.
Once all turbines are switched on, the site will produce no less than 3.3 TWh per year, an amount enough to meet the needs of about one million homes.
CrossWind boasted that the project was realised in a record time. Contractor Van Oord commenced construction works in October 2022, while the first turbine was installed in April.
