Spanish renewables company Acciona Energia (BME:ANE) increased power generation from its consolidated capacity worldwide by 6.7% to 5,724 GWh during the first quarter of 2023, according to its latest update on operating performance.
Consolidated capacity stood at 10,012 MW at the end of the quarter, up by 9% year-on-year. Acciona Energia generates electricity from wind, hydro, solar PV and biomass-fired power plants in Spain. Abroad, it operates solar PV and wind farms, with solar thermal and storage added to the mix in the United States.
In Spain, total consolidated production rose by 9.0% to 2,745 GWh. Consolidated production in the international markets was up by 4.6% to 2,979 GWh.
The average captured price of electricity, calculated in EUR per MWh, dropped by 29.5% year-on-year to EUR 81.4/MWh (USD 88.6/MWh) in the three months through March.
During the first trimester, Acciona Energia added 118 MW of new capacity in Australia, Spain and the United States and beefed up stakes in two projects in Canada for an additional 10 MW, the company said.
