Verbund Green Power Iberia, a unit of Austrian utility Verbund AG (VIE:VER), has commissioned a 34.8-MW wind farm in Huelva province, southern Spain.

The Ayamonte wind farm features six GE turbines capable of generating around 78.4 GWh of electricity per year, Verbund’s Iberian unit said on Monday.

With the newest wind farm online, Verbund Green Power Iberia now has 630 MW of renewables in operation in Spain. This capacity is divided between 380 MW of wind and 250 MW of solar photovoltaic power.

The Ayamonte wind project was once fully owned by Spanish renewables developer Capital Energy. In early 2022, Capital Energy wrapped Ayamonte, three other wind projects and one 20-MWp solar project in a 171-MW package and sold 70% of the assets to Verbund, while retaining the remaining interest.

One of the wind projects, the 39-MW Loma de los Pinos, was commissioned by Capital Energy and Verbund in July this year.

Verbund also acquired a 257-MW operational wind farm portfolio in Spain from Portugal’s EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) this year.
