Brazil is predicted so as to add 10.3 GW of recent energy technology capability in 2023, with over 90% of that coming from centralised wind and photo voltaic, based on a forecast by Brazilian energy sector regulator Aneel.
This could be the most important ever capability enlargement in a single yr for the nation since Aneel began monitoring in 1997, the watchdog stated.
Aneel expects 298 technology tasks to enter business operation in 2023. Three Brazilian states — Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte and Minas Gerais — will host over 70% of the overall capability deliberate for this yr. Minas Gerais is forecast so as to add 1.8 GW of centralised photo voltaic PV alone, which can increase the share of photo voltaic by over 80% in that state’s energy combine, Aneel stated.
In 2022, Brazil added roughly 8.5 GW of recent capability, with non-hydro renewables representing some 6.5 GW of that. It was the second-best yr for Brazil when it comes to annual capability additions since Aneel began protecting information, coming behind 9.5 GW added in 2016.
