IT and logistic parks owner CapitaLand India Trust (SGX:CY6U), or CLINT, on Thursday announced the commissioning of its first captive solar power plant in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, a 21-MW facility with expansion potential.
The site will generate more than 30 million kWh of clean power annually, an amount enough to cover the electricity needs of 2 million square feet (185,806 sq m) equivalent of office space. The plant has an 8-MW expansion potential.
The output of the solar farm will be mostly used for the needs of the common areas of CLINT’s assets in Tamil Nadu. It increases CLINT’s green energy usage by over 70%.
CLINT is part of Singapore-based real estate group CapitaLand Investment (CLI). In 2022, CLI managed to power with renewable energy some 26 of its properties across seven countries and 10 business parks in India.
