Colombia generated 76.98% of its electricity from clean and renewable sources in July, the national grid operator XM Compania de Expertos en Mercados has said.
The figure points to a decline from June when the combined share of large hydro and non-conventional renewables was 80.44%.
July witnessed increased thermal power generation to meet the nation’s electricity demand, XM said.
Colombia’s system generated a total of 6,622.64 GWh of electricity in July. The monthly total corresponded to an average production of 213.63 GWh per day, down by 0.54% month-on-month.
The renewables share of 76.98% translated into 164.44 GWh of clean electricity produced per day on average, marking a 4.82% decline compared to June.
