Italian solar systems installer Comal Spa has been awarded a contract to build an 80-MWp solar park in Sardinia on behalf of compatriot Sardeolica Srl, a unit of renewable power generator Saras Spa.
The deal has expanded Comal’s order backlog to EUR 330 million (USD 360.2m), the company said on Friday, adding that the projects will be realised in the 2023-2024 period.
The ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) park will be installed in Macchiareddu, part of the municipality of Assemini, in the province of Cagliari. Building works are planned to begin in June and be completed in the first half of next year.
The order will be executed under the engineering, procurement, construction and management model.
According to its website, Saras Group owns 171 MW of installed capacity coming from three wind farms. The company, which has been producing electricity from renewable sources since 2005, aims to add 500 MW of wind and solar capacity to its fleet by 2025.
