Floventis Energy announced today that the public consultation on its 100-MW Llyr 1 floating wind project in the Celtic Sea starts on Monday, while work on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is already underway.
The process of gathering feedback on the proposed Llyr 1 site will last until February 11, according to a press statement.
After the public consultations, Floventis will file an application for consent to build and operate an offshore generating station. In parallel, a submission for a Marine Licence will be made.
Construction works on the site are expected to start in late 2026, subject to the necessary consent.
Floventis, a joint venture between Dutch offshore energy company SBM Offshore and renewables developer Cierco, secured leases from the Crown Estate for the Llyr 1, and the similar Llyr 2 project, in July 2021. The geophysical surveys on the two 100-MW projects were completed in February 2023.
