EDP Renewables has bought a portfolio consisting of over 42 MWp of solar projects in the New Aquitaine region of southern France.
The bundle includes four photovoltaic (PV) schemes, of which three will combine solar power production with agricultural activities, EDP Renewables said on Thursday. The name of the vendor and financial details about the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquired projects are located at four different sites across New Aquitaine. The agrivoltaic (PV) arrays are planned to be installed on degraded land, with commercial operations to be achieved between 2025 and 2028.
“We are happy to start the year with this announcement which strengthens our strategic positioning in France, where the market is highly competitive and margins are low,” said Etienne Thomassin, managing director of EDPR in France.
In France, EDP Renewables currently owns more than 600 MW of installed power capacity. The company noted that the latest acquisition was carried out after it took part in a competitive bidding.
