Danish renewables group Eurowind Energy A/S said on Wednesday it has bought additional shares in France’s Ventelys Energies Partagees and has thus built a majority stake in the wind and solar company.
Specific details about Eurowind’s latest acquisition were not available.
The newly-bought shares in Ventelys add to Eurowind’s 50% stake in the French company, which it acquired back in 2017. Since then, Ventelys has been operated as a joint venture business.
Following the deal, Ventelys will become part of the Eurowind Energy group but will continue to operate under its own name. Cyril Desreumaux, one of Ventelys’ founders and current general director, will keep a minority stake and continue to run the company, which is currently working on the development of 38 wind and solar projects with a combined capacity of 1.26 GW.
“With our first wind and solar parks under development, the company now holds the technical and financial skills in solar and wind technology to move on to the level of becoming an IPP committed to the green transition. This has always been the plan,” Desreumaux said.
