Investment firm Inspirit Capital has taken over CWind, a UK-based offshore wind support services provider which was carved out from the Global Marine Group.
Founded in 2010, CWind operates a fleet of 12 owned and operated crew transfer vessels (CTV), including the world’s first hybrid Surface Effect Ship — CWind Pioneer. The company, which makes about 60,000 crew transfers annually, has served as a partner for more than 50 offshore wind farms.
London-based Inspirit Capital invests in businesses that are no longer core to their parent company’s strategic objectives. Its portfolio also includes Vysus Group, an engineering consulting business focused on industrial and energy assets, as well as energy transition and rail infrastructure.
“We are excited to back management’s vision to nurture and expand existing customer relationships, as well as deliver on the ambitious sustainability plans for the business,” said Paul Youens, investment manager at Inspirit.
