Italian vitality firm ERG SpA (BIT:ERG) mentioned on Thursday that it has closed a 12-year energy buy settlement (PPA) to produce round 75% of the output from its repowered wind farm close to Palermo, Italy.
EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:EL), France-based ophthalmic lenses and eyewear producer, is the off-taker. The multinational, which has Ray-Ban sun shades and different well-known eyewear manufacturers in its portfolio, dedicated to procuring round 900 GWh of ERG’s wind vitality between 2023 and 2034.

ERG will provide the electrical energy from its Partinico-Monreale wind farm, which is presently being repowered. The previous design included 19 wind generators and 16 MW of put in capability. After the repowering, Partinico-Monreale could have 42 MW of capability throughout ten generators of 4.2 MW, ERG mentioned.
Changed gear may also enhance the wind farm’s manufacturing output to round 94 GWh per 12 months, in comparison with 27 GWh/12 months it generated in its earlier kind.
The wind farm is presently in a sophisticated stage of development. ERG expects it to begin operation through the second quarter of 2023.
Partinico-Monreale is ERG’s first repowering mission in Italy.
