Electric Power Development Co Ltd (TYO:9513), known as J-Power, has put into commercial operation the 14.85-MW New Sarakitomanai Wind Farm in Hokkaido island following the completion of the renovation works.
J-Power announced today that, its subsidiary J-Wind Co Ltd has replaced nine old wind turbines, with an individual capacity of 1,650 kW, with four 4.3-MW turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA.
With the start of commercial operations of the new wind plant, the company’s wind power generation business now has a total output of 766.19 MW in Japan, of which some 210.68 MW are in Hokkaido alone. This portfolio includes assets in operation, being updated, under construction, and planning facility replacement.
Sarakitomanai Wind is another step in the company’s goal of achieving net zero in its power generation business in 2050, J-Power noted.
