US utility-scale solar developer and operator Adapture Renewables Inc on Monday said it has signed three environmental attributes purchase agreements with Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) tied to 330 MW of solar generation in Illinois and Arkansas.
The US technology conglomerate will procure renewable energy from three solar projects currently under development in the two US states. Adapture Renewables, which is owned by KIRKBI, the private holding and investment company of the Kirk Kristiansen family established to build a sustainable future for the LEGO brand, announced the acquisition of the projects only last week.

Meta achieved net zero emissions in its global operations in 2020 and aims to uphold this goal as it grows. The contract with Adapture Renewables will support its commitment to net zero emissions across its operations and value chain, says the announcement.
The three projects are located in federally-designated energy communities where a coal facility had been shut down, the developer pointed out. They are estimated to bring a net economic impact of more than USD 400 million (EUR 367m).
