Mingyang Smart Energy has secured an order from Woori Technology to supply offshore wind turbines for the Aphae 80MW offshore wind project in South Korea.
This milestone marks MingYang’s entry into the Korean market as the first Chinese OEM, the turbine manufacturer said.Â
Located in Jeollanam-do, southwestern Korea, Aphae is set to be the first privately-led offshore wind farm over 50MW.
The project said 13 6.5MW offshore wind turbines, leveraging Mingyang’s proven technology for optimal performance in low wind speed conditions along with typhoons.
The turbines will be locally manufactured WTGs at the factory in Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, Korea.
FEED works are scheduled in early 2024.
