Renewables developer rPlus Energies on Thursday announced an off-take deal enabling it to supply the output of a 200-MW solar park in Idaho to the local data centre operations of Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META).
The long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for rPlus Energies’ Pleasant Valley Solar photovoltaic (PV) project was sealed with utility Idaho Power, which separately has in place a special energy services agreement with Meta. The arrangement will see the technology conglomerate receive green electricity for its new data centre in the city of Kuna.

Building works at the project site in Ada County are expected to be launched later this year. Sundt Renewables has been appointed as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.
Around 220 jobs are seen to be created during the project’s construction phase. According to rPlus, the scheme is currently the largest contracted solar project in the Idaho Power system.
The PPA is aligned with Meta’s goal to use 100% renewable power for its operations and also backs Idaho Power’s target of providing 100% clean energy by 2045.
