Solar energy producer Sonnedix Power Holdings announced today that it has secured a pay-as-produced power purchase agreement (PPA) for its 149-MW solar project in Portugal.
This ten-year agreement with US digital infrastructure company Equinix Inc (NASDAQ:EQIX) marks Sonnedix’s entry into the Portuguese PPA sector.

Under the contract, power supply is scheduled to commence in July 2025. Named Sonnedix Douro, the photovoltaic (PV) project is located in the municipality of Tarouca, Portugal’s northern Viseu district.
The PV scheme is Sonnedix’s largest in Europe. Once up and running, it will produce enough clean electricity to meet the demand of 78,000 Portuguese homes, Sonnedix said.
This is the second time Sonnedix and Equinix have signed a ten-year solar pay-as-produced PPA. Earlier this year, the duo inked a 150-MWp agreement for a project in Spain, which represents Sonnedix’s largest PPA to date in Europe.
