US commercial solar company Summit Ridge Energy (SRE) on Monday announced joint venture deals with Osaka Gas USA Corporation (OGUSA) to build, own and operate more than 100 MW of solar projects across Virginia and 8 MW of energy storage systems in New York.
The announcement expands the partnership between the companies, marking their third and fourth joint ventures. The latest joint ventures represent a nine-figure investment in clean energy development, Arlington, Virginia-based SRE said.
The commercial solar company added the agreements represent its entry into the Virginia market and an expansion into the energy storage space. SRE expects to have more than 400 MW of solar in operation by the end of 2023.
Sunao Okamoto, president and chief executive of OGUSA, a subsidiary of Osaka Gas Co Ltd (TYO:9532), said OGUSA is “eager to pursue new technologies, enter new markets and further contribute to the decarbonisation and stability of the US power grid.”
