Turbines maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has won a contract to equip the 760-MW Hollandse Kust West VI offshore wind project to be built off the Dutch coast by local wind farm developer Ecowende.
The order is for 52 of Vestas’ V236-15.0 MW turbines, with the installation of the machines scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2026. Vestas will also service the turbines for 15 years, the companies announced on Friday.
Hollandse Kust West VI, to be built about 53 kilometres (32.9 miles) off the Dutch coast near the city of IJmuiden, has a grid connection capacity of 760 MW. It is expected to be switched on by the end of 2026.
The project’ developer is a joint venture between energy giant Shell Plc and Dutch utility Eneco. A day earlier, it was announced that Dutch steel tubulars manufacturer Sif Holding NV had signed a final agreement to supply the monopile foundations needed for the wind farm project.
