Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has secured a 243-MW order in the US from RWE Clean Energy LLC, a US subsidiary of German energy group RWE AG (ETR:RWE).
Under the contract, unveiled today, Vestas will supply, deliver and commission 54 units of its V163-4.5 MW turbine for an undisclosed project of the customer. The deal also includes a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. Delivery of the turbines will start in the second quarter of 2024, with commissioning planned for the fourth quarter of the same year.
Laura Beane, president of Vestas North America, noted that the manufacturer will supply RWE with its newest turbine to the US market.
Vestas plans to manufacture the V163-4.5 MW in its Brighton Nacelles and Windsor Blades factories in Colorado.
