The highly anticipated 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali has been spotted testing in the heart of Michigan, revealing an electric pickup that wants to redefine truck expectations. Duncan Aldred, GMC, and Buick global VP, shared exclusive images of the Sierra EV Denali in action.

GM’s flirtation with an electric GMC Sierra truck has been a long-standing affair, with the 2024 GMC Sierra EV first edition making its grand debut in October 2022. Following in the tire tracks of the Hummer EV, the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 promises a staggering 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in max power mode.

This electric pickup promises a range of up to 400 miles, setting the stage for a powerful player in the electric vehicle landscape. The 800V architecture and fast charging ensure a swift addition of 100 miles in just ten minutes, putting the convenience front and center of the Sierra EV’s design.

Adding a dash of innovation, the Sierra EV features the MultiPro MidGate, allowing the truck’s bed to expand by over 10 feet. The foldable rear cabin wall opens up possibilities for storing oversized items, revolutionizing the utility aspect of electric trucks.

The Sierra EV incorporates 4-wheel steering with the quirky “Crabwalk,” a feature initially introduced on the Hummer EV. The availability of GM Super Cruise driver-assist adds a layer of sophistication, marking the Sierra EV as more than just a powerhouse on wheels.

As we catch a first glimpse of the Sierra EV Denali out in the wild, illuminated by holiday lights, it becomes obvious that GM is aiming for a summer 2024 launch, if not later.

GM’s post-launch plans include a range of trims, with the Sierra EV Elevation and AT4 expected to hit the streets in the first half of 2025. The AT4 trim, boasting 18″ wheels with 35″ all-terrain tires, terrain mode, and Super Cruise as standard, promises an off-road experience that aligns with the Sierra’s rugged reputation.

The electric truck will roll off the production line at GM’s Factory Zero plant and Orion assembly in Michigan, standing shoulder to shoulder with the Silverado EV. While the Orion facility’s EV truck production delay until 2025 raises some questions, but hopefully it suggests GM’s commitment to delivering a meticulously crafted electric truck.
