Japanese wind projects developer Eurus Energy Holdings Corp announced today the start of power generation at two wind parks at home with a combined capacity of 127.5 MW.
The 47.5-MW Hamasato Wind Farm and the 80-MW Kawaminami facility are located in the northern Hokkaido region and feature a total of 33 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines each of 4.3-MW.
The two wind farms were constructed by Dohoku Wind Farm LLC, an Eurus group company.
The company said the new wind parks are part of the Dohoku Wind Power Generation Project, which aims to install a total of 107 wind turbines in the region.
All electricity generated by the facilities will be sold to local utility Hokkaido Electric Power Network Inc.
Together, the duo is capable of meeting the electricity needs of some 93,000 average households.
Eurus noted it will continue to promote wind power generation in Hokkaido due to the favourable wind conditions in the prefecture.
