Dominion Energy has revealed the first monopiles for its 2600MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project have arrived at the Port of Virginia’s Portsmouth Marine Terminal.
The first consignment of monopiles have been shipped from EEW SPC’s factory in Rostock.
In total, EEW SPC will produce 176 monopile foundations for the project.
The monopiles are 83 metres long, weigh 1538 tonnes and have a diameter up to 9.5 metres.
The CVOW project is being developed off Virginia Beach following a two turbine pilot project, which was commissioned in 2020.
The wind farm is expected to be operational in 2026.
