UK utility SSE plc’s (LON:SSE) renewables arm announced today that the first of 29 turbines has been successfully installed at its 101-MW Yellow River Wind Farm in central Ireland.
The facility, which will be equipped with N117/3600 machines provided by German manufacturer Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1), is on track to be connected to the grid in early 2025, SSE Renewables noted in a statement.
Turbine delivery is set to continue until April, with the installation works expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
SSE Renewables bought the project, located in Rhode, County Offaly, in December 2019.
Once operational, Yellow River will produce enough renewable energy to meet the electricity needs of 66,000 homes. The project has won a contract for the entire capacity under the Irish Government’s latest RESS 3 auction round for new onshore wind farms.
