Electric Power Development Co Ltd (TYO:9513), known as J-Power, announced today it has put into commercial operation its 30.6-MW New Tomamae Winvilla wind farm in Hokkaido island after completing its renovation.

J-Power, through its subsidiary J-Wind Co Ltd, replaced 19 old wind turbines, with capacities ranging from 1,500 kW to 1,650 kW, with eight 4.3-MW turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA.

Tomamae Winvilla was the first domestic wind plant for J-Power’s renewable business. With the start of commercial operations of New Tomamae, the company’s wind power generation business now has a total output of 766 MW in Japan, including assets in operation, being updated, under construction, and planning facility replacement, J-Power noted.
