Renewables developer Green Genius, part of the Lithuanian Modus Group, announced today it has ordered turbines from Germany’s Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) for the first phase of the 85-MW Jurbarkas wind project in southwestern Lithuania.
Green Genius has purchased 11 units of the N163/5.X turbine model to add 62.7 MW of capacity near the town of Jurbarkas, about 50 km away from the shores of the Baltic Sea. Construction work on that phase has already begun.
The company said in a statement that the second phase of the project is in the final development stage and that the supplier of the remaining five turbines will be selected later. It expects to invest more than EUR 100 million (USD 110m) in the overall project.
Nordex said separately it anticipates delivering and installing the 11 turbines next year.
